Why It Doesn’t Release Microplastics

Scratches happen - but not all scratches mean the same thing.

Plastic boards are made from soft polymers, so every cut removes material, producing microscopic plastic fragments that can transfer directly into food. Over time, those marks are evidence of continuous material loss.

Velcorian Stone™ behaves differently. Its dense, mineral‑rich structure resists that kind of wear, so material loss is minimal under normal use. And if any microscopic particles are produced, they are not free plastic fragments but a stable, mineral composite.

Because of their composition, these particles don’t behave like microplastics: they are chemically stable and biologically inert, meaning they pass through the body without reacting with tissues in the way that microplastics do.
